Gematria Systems Explained

Simple Gematria

Letters A through Z map to $1$ through $26$. The word "gematria" totals $74$ in Simple gematria because each letter uses its position in the alphabet ($g=7$, $e=5$, $m=13$, $a=1$, $t=20$, $r=18$, $i=9$, $a=1$).

English Gematria

Each letter maps to a multiple of $6$. $A = 6$, $B = 12$, $C = 18$, and so on up to $Z = 156$. This system is common in modern English numerology.

Jewish (Hebrew) Gematria

Jewish gematria uses traditional Hebrew letter values and also supports Latin letters with a distinct value table. Hebrew letters such as aleph through tav carry values from $1$ to $400$.
