Create a WhatsApp Conversation Mockup

WhatsApp Chat Generator turns a fictional conversation into a downloadable image. Edit both sides of the exchange, add a contact name and avatar, set individual message times and preview the result as you type. Use it for storyboards, training slides, product presentations and social media designs without exposing a real conversation.

The light preview has a green contact header, a warm chat background, green outgoing bubbles, white incoming bubbles and optional blue double ticks. It is a visual approximation of a chat interface, rather than an exact copy of any particular phone or app version.

How to Build Your Chat Image

  1. Set a contact name and status bar time. Optionally upload a PNG, JPG or WebP avatar up to 5 MB.
  2. Customize the chat date label and the message input placeholder.
  3. Choose the sender, timestamp and text for each message. Add an optional date separator when the scene moves to another day.
  4. Use Add message to extend the exchange, or Remove to shorten it. New messages alternate between participants.
  5. Toggle Show read receipts to display or hide the blue double ticks on outgoing messages.
  6. Choose Download PNG, or Copy image when supported by your browser.

Make the Conversation Easy to Read

Start with a short fictional exchange, such as arranging a weekend museum visit. Put the question in an incoming bubble and the reply in an outgoing bubble. Assign times that follow the intended order, and add a date separator only where it helps readers. The tool preserves your message order and does not sort messages by timestamp.

Each message supports up to 1,000 characters. Line breaks and emoji appear in the preview, while long words wrap inside their bubbles. You can add up to 30 messages. Blank messages remain available in the editor but do not produce empty bubbles. If every message is blank or removed, the preview prompts you to add a message.

Download and Copy Options

PNG export captures a fixed 390 by 844 chat frame, including its header, timestamps and input bar. Editor controls are excluded. Export uses twice the frame resolution for sharper text, so every image is 780 by 1688 pixels. The preview scales to fit your screen without changing the exported dimensions. Messages beyond the visible chat area are clipped; shorten the conversation if you want every message to appear.

Copy image requires browser support for writing PNG images to the clipboard and may require permission. If clipboard access is unavailable or fails, download the PNG instead. Reset mockup restores the original sample and removes the uploaded avatar.

Browser Privacy and Mockup Limitations

Messages and avatars remain in the current browser page. The tool does not connect to WhatsApp, access your contacts or send messages. Conversation details are not placed in a shareable URL. Download the image before refreshing to keep your work.

The ticks are editable visual elements and do not establish delivery or authenticity. For a presentation or fictional story, give the exported image the context its audience needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the generator send WhatsApp messages?

No. It renders a static conversation image without connecting to WhatsApp or any account.

Can I edit both sides of the conversation?

Yes. Each message has a sender selector, editable text and its own timestamp. Choose the contact for white incoming bubbles or You for green outgoing bubbles.

Can I hide the blue ticks?

Yes. Turn off Show read receipts. The timestamps remain visible and the blue ticks disappear from outgoing messages.

Are avatars uploaded to a server?

No. The avatar is read and rendered locally in your browser. Supported formats are PNG, JPG and WebP, with a maximum file size of 5 MB.

Why is Copy image unavailable?

Your browser may not support image clipboard writing, or clipboard permission may be denied. Use Download PNG to save the mockup.

Will my conversation survive a refresh?

No. The editor keeps its contents in the current page. Download the PNG before refreshing or closing the tab.
