How Upload Time Is Calculated

Upload time depends on file size and your upload bandwidth. Residential connections often advertise download speed prominently while upload speed is much lower, so use a measured upload rate for accurate estimates.

Upload Time Formula

$$\text{upload time} = \frac{\text{file size in bits}}{\text{upload speed in bps}}$$

To convert megabytes to megabits, multiply by 8:

$$\text{Mb} = \text{MB} \times 8$$
