Combine PDF files in the order you choose

The PDF Merger combines selected pages from one or more PDFs into a single downloadable document. Add your files, review the page thumbnails, exclude unwanted pages, and arrange the output before downloading. Your PDFs are opened and processed locally in your browser.

Use it to assemble a report with supporting documents, combine a cover letter and portfolio, collect invoices, or put scanned chapters into reading order. You can also upload just one PDF to extract selected pages or rearrange them.

How to merge PDFs

  1. Add PDFs. Choose multiple files or drop them into the upload area. New files are appended to the current collection.
  2. Choose pages. All pages start selected. Uncheck a page to leave it out, or use the selection controls for an entire document.
  3. Arrange documents. Use Up and Down beside a source file to move its group of pages.
  4. Refine the page order. The output list shows exactly which pages will be exported. Its arrows move individual pages, including between source documents. Moving a source file afterward groups its pages again.
  5. Download. Enter a filename and choose Merge and download PDF. The page count updates immediately as you change the selection.

Example: assemble a project packet

Suppose your project brief contains three pages and an appendix contains two. Upload both documents, deselect page two of the brief, and keep both appendix pages. The output contains four pages: brief page one, brief page three, appendix page one, and appendix page two. Move the last page upward if it should appear before the other appendix page.

What merging preserves

The merger copies PDF pages instead of taking screenshots of them. Existing page sizes, page rotations, text and images are retained without rasterizing the output. A landscape page can sit alongside portrait pages, and text that was selectable remains PDF text. A scan remains an image: merging does not recognize its text.

Merging is not a complete transfer of document-level features. Bookmarks, attachments, interactive form behavior, and digital signatures may not carry over. Check the result before submitting a signed document or a form. Fillable documents are best saved as ordinary flattened PDFs before merging when you need their visible field values to be reliable.

Limits and file handling

ItemSupported limit
Source filesUp to 20 PDFs per collection
Individual sizeUp to 25 MB per PDF
Combined source sizeUp to 100 MB
Source pagesUp to 200 pages total, including deselected pages
Protected filesUpload an unlocked copy; password-protected PDFs are not supported

These limits help keep processing practical in a browser. A very complex document can still exceed the memory available on your device. If one file cannot be read, the other valid files remain available. A failed thumbnail preview does not by itself prevent merging the original pages.

Your file content and filenames are not placed in the page URL or sent to a conversion server. Refreshing or closing the page clears the current collection. Download the finished file before leaving.

Prepare your documents

If your merged PDF is too large for an attachment, try the PDF Compressor afterward. Compression can change visual quality, so review the result. For documents with digital signatures, the PDF Signature Checker can inspect signatures in the source file. For a page image that needs resizing first, use Image Resizer.

For separate files by page range or fixed-size groups, use the PDF Splitter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?

No. PDF reading, thumbnails, page selection, and merging happen in your browser. Your documents are not uploaded for conversion.

Can I exclude blank or unwanted pages?

Yes. Uncheck any page before downloading. The output page count and ordered list update immediately. You must keep at least one page selected.

Can I move pages between different PDFs?

Yes. Use the arrows in the output page list to move an individual page anywhere in the selected sequence. Source file arrows move all pages belonging to a file as a group.

Will merging reduce image quality?

The merger copies the original pages without rendering them into new images or applying lossy image compression. Small thumbnails are only previews and do not determine the quality of your downloaded PDF.

Can I merge password-protected files?

No. Save an unlocked copy using software you are authorized to use, then add that copy. Damaged files and non-PDF uploads are also rejected with an explanation.

Can I extract pages from just one PDF?

Yes. Add one PDF, select the pages you want, arrange them, and download. A second source file is optional.
