JWT Expiry Calculator

Decode JWT exp and iat claims and see absolute expiry, remaining lifetime, and clock-skew warnings in the browser.

O M T

Read JWT expiration from exp and iat claims

JSON Web Tokens (JWTs, RFC 7519) carry a signed payload with time-based claims. The exp (expiration) and iat (issued at) claims are Unix timestamps in seconds. Paste a JWT to see absolute ISO times, total lifetime, remaining seconds, and whether the token is already expired relative to your clock.

How to use this calculator

  1. Paste a JWT (three Base64URL segments separated by dots).
  2. Optionally add clock skew leeway in seconds for drift between servers.
  3. Read the countdown card and JSON summary for audit logs or incident notes.

Decoding is client-side only; signatures are not verified here. For full claim tables use the JWT Decoder, and for issuer or audience rules try JWT Claims Validator.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my token has no exp claim?

The tool reports that expiration cannot be calculated. Many opaque session tokens omit exp; rely on your authorization server policy instead.

Why add clock skew?

Small differences between client and issuer clocks can cause false "expired" results. Leeway mirrors common validation libraries that allow a few seconds of drift.

Is my token sent to a server?

No. Payload segments are Base64URL-decoded in your browser; the secret or private key is never required for this view.
