EASI Score Calculator

Calculate Eczema Area and Severity Index across four body regions with pediatric and adult weighting factors.

O M T

What Is the EASI Score?

The Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) quantifies atopic dermatitis severity across head/neck, trunk, upper limbs, and lower limbs. Scores range from 0 to 72. It is widely used in clinical trials and dermatology follow-up.

How EASI Is Calculated

For each region, multiply area score (0 to 6) by severity score (sum of redness, thickness, scratching, and lichenification, each 0 to 3), then by a region factor. Pediatric patients under 8 use different head/neck and lower limb weights.

Severity Interpretation

0 is clear, up to 1 is almost clear, 1.1 to 7 is mild, 7.1 to 21 is moderate, 21.1 to 50 is severe, and above 50 is very severe. Track scores over time to monitor treatment response.

Frequently Asked Questions

What body regions does EASI include?

Head and neck, trunk, upper limbs, and lower limbs.

What is the maximum EASI score?

The maximum possible EASI score is 72.

Do pediatric weights differ?

Yes. Patients under 8 use 0.2 for head/neck and 0.3 for lower limbs instead of 0.1 and 0.4.

What EASI score is considered severe?

Scores from 21.1 to 50 indicate severe atopic dermatitis.
