How Big Will My Puppy Get?
The Dog Size Calculator helps you predict your puppy's adult weight and size category based on its current weight and age. Whether you have a mixed breed puppy or just adopted a stray, this tool uses a proven formula to estimate how big your furry friend will be when fully grown.
The calculator uses the formula: Adult weight = (Puppy weight / Puppy age in weeks) x 52. Since most dogs mature into adults within 12 months (52 weeks), this formula provides a reliable estimate. Smaller breeds tend to mature faster (around 8 months), while larger breeds can take up to 16 months.
Dog Size Categories
Based on the predicted adult weight, your dog falls into one of five size categories. Toy dogs weigh under 5.4 kg (12 lbs) and include breeds like Yorkshire Terriers and Chihuahuas. Small dogs weigh 5.4-10 kg (12-22 lbs) and include Beagles and Corgis. Medium dogs weigh 10-25.9 kg (22-57 lbs) and include Labrador Retrievers and Samoyeds.
Large dogs weigh 25.9-44.9 kg (57-99 lbs) and include Alaskan Malamutes and Bernese Mountain Dogs. Giant dogs weigh over 44.9 kg (99 lbs) and include Great Danes and Bullmastiffs. Interestingly, smaller dogs tend to live longer - for every increase of 2 kg of body weight, a dog's lifespan decreases by about one month.
