APFT Calculator
Score legacy Army APFT push-ups, sit-ups, and 2-mile run by age and sex with pass or fail totals.
What Is the APFT?
The Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) was the U.S. Army's standard fitness test from 1980 until it was replaced by the ACFT in October 2020. It scored push-ups (2 minutes), sit-ups (2 minutes), and a 2-mile run from 0 to 100 points per event, for a maximum of 300 points. See also the ACFT Calculator.
Passing Standards
To pass the legacy APFT, a soldier needed at least 60 points in each event and a total of at least 180. Scoring tables varied by age group and sex. This calculator uses representative breakpoint tables with interpolation between minimum (60), intermediate (80), and maximum (100) performance levels.
Age Groups
Select the age bracket that applied on the day of the test: 17–21, 22–26, 27–31, 32–36, 37–41, 42–46, 47–51, or 52–56. Sit-up standards are the same for male and female soldiers; push-up and run standards differ by sex.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the APFT still used?
No. The APFT was retired in October 2020 and replaced by the ACFT, later superseded by the AFT. This calculator is for historical reference and training comparison.
What score is needed to pass?
At least 60 points in push-ups, sit-ups, and the 2-mile run, with a combined total of 180 or higher.
How do I enter the 2-mile run time?
Use minutes and seconds in mm:ss format, for example 14:30 for fourteen minutes thirty seconds.
Are these official Army score tables?
This tool uses representative breakpoints derived from published APFT standards with interpolation, similar to our ACFT calculator. Verify official scores against DA Form 705 if needed.
Why do sit-up standards not differ by sex?
The legacy APFT used the same sit-up scoring table for male and female soldiers. Push-ups and the 2-mile run had separate tables.
