What this purchase order includes

A purchase order is the buyer's request to a vendor. It names the vendor, the ship-to address, the shipping terms, the payment terms, and each item with quantity and unit price. The generator totals those lines, adds tax on the subtotal, then adds shipping.

$$\text{Total} = \text{Subtotal} + \text{Subtotal} \times \frac{\text{tax}}{100} + \text{Shipping}$$

How the sample order is calculated

PO-1048 is dated April 14, 2026, from Harbor Workshop to Northwind Fasteners. Two hundred M6 hex bolts at $0.18 and two hundred nylon lock nuts at $0.12 make a $60.00 subtotal. Tax at 8% is $4.80. Shipping is $45.00. The order total is $109.80. Shipping terms are FOB Destination and payment terms are Net 30.

Vendor names and addresses stay in the browser. They are not written into the page URL. Use Reset to restore the sample, or edit every field and download the text file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is tax applied to shipping?

No. Tax is a percentage of the line-item subtotal. Shipping is added after tax.

What does FOB Destination mean here?

It is a label on the document. The tool does not change the total based on the shipping term you pick. Enter the shipping amount you agreed to.

Can I leave a line blank?

A line with no description and zero quantity and price is ignored. A line with a price but no description is rejected.

Does the download include the notes?

Yes. The copied text and the purchase-order.txt file include the header, addresses, terms, lines, totals, and notes.

Is this a legally binding order by itself?

No. It formats the commercial details. Your vendor agreement, signature, and local rules decide whether the order is binding.
