How Many Pizzas for a Party?

This pizza party calculator estimates how many pizzas to order based on guest count, hunger level, slice size, and price. Pair it with our Pizza Size Calculator and Perfect Pizza Calculator when you are planning dough and toppings too.

Slices Per Person

A normal appetite is about 2.5 slices per guest. Hungry crowds often need 3.5 slices each. Multiply by your group size, then divide by slices per pizza and round up so everyone gets enough.

$$\text{pizzas} = \left\lceil \frac{\text{people} \times \text{slices per person}}{\text{slices per pizza}} \right\rceil$$

Cost Split

Total cost is pizzas times price per pizza. Cost per person divides that total by the number of guests so you can split the bill fairly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many pizzas for 20 people?

At 2.5 slices per person on 8-slice pizzas, plan about 7 pizzas. Hungry guests at 3.5 slices need about 9 pizzas.

How many slices does a 12-inch pizza have?

Most 12-inch pizzas are cut into 8 slices. Smaller 10-inch pizzas often have 6, and large 16-inch pizzas may have 12.

Should I round up pizza orders?

Yes. Always round up to whole pizzas. Leftover pizza is easier to manage than running short at a party.

Does pizza size change the slice count?

Larger diameters usually mean more slices per pizza. You can adjust slices per pizza in the tool if your shop cuts differently.
