Pizza Size Calculator
Compare pizza diameters, topping area, and true cost per square inch with optional crust adjustment.
How the Pizza Size Calculator Works
Compare two pizzas by diameter and price. The tool calculates topping area, cost per square inch, and highlights the better deal. If you skip the crust, it subtracts the rim before measuring edible area. Related tools: Pizza Comparison Calculator and Perfect Pizza Calculator.
Why Area Matters More Than Diameter
Pizza size is usually quoted by diameter, but you eat area. A 16-inch pizza is more than twice the area of a 10-inch pizza because area grows with the square of the radius.
Crust Adjustment
Turn off "I eat the crust" to compare only topping area. The calculator uses the inner radius minus your crust width, which is useful when the rim is mostly bread.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is topping area calculated?
With crust included, area is pi times radius squared. Without crust, the radius is reduced by the crust width before the area is calculated.
What is true cost?
True cost is price divided by topping area in square inches. A lower value means more pizza per dollar.
Is a larger pizza always cheaper per inch?
Usually, but not always. Compare the exact prices at your pizzeria because deals and toppings can change the math.
Can I compare more than two pizzas?
This tool compares two pizzas at a time. For multi-pizza orders, use the Pizza Comparison Calculator.
What units does the calculator use?
Diameters and crust width are in inches, and prices are in your local currency symbol shown as dollars in the interface.
