Mixing Ratio Calculator
Calculate mixing ratios and percentages for up to 6 substances by mass or volume with scale multiplier.
Mixing Ratio Calculator
The Mixing Ratio Calculator converts substance amounts into percentages, simplified part ratios, and scaled quantities. Use it for paint blends, chemical solutions, punch recipes, or any mixture where each component shares the same unit.
For each substance $i$, the percentage is:
$$\text{Percentage}_i = \frac{\text{Amount}_i}{\sum \text{Amount}} \times 100\%$$
Example: mixing 40 ml blue paint with 60 ml yellow paint gives a total of 100 ml. Blue is 40%, yellow is 60%, and the simplified ratio is 2 : 3. Scaling by 5 produces 200 ml blue and 300 ml yellow for 500 ml total.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a mixing ratio?
A mixing ratio compares how much of each substance is in a mixture relative to the others. It can be expressed as percentages, parts, or mass/volume fractions that sum to 100%.
Do all substances need the same unit?
Yes. Use the same unit for every entry, such as grams for mass or milliliters for volume. Mixing mass and volume in one calculation gives incorrect ratios unless density is applied.
How do I scale a recipe?
Multiply each substance amount by the same scale factor. If a 2 : 3 ratio uses 40 and 60 units, scaling by 10 gives 400 and 600 units.
What is a 2 to 1 mix ratio?
A 2 to 1 ratio means two parts of the first substance for every one part of the second. The first substance makes up about 66.7% and the second about 33.3% of the mixture.
