The Four Clinical Ideal Weight Formulas

1. Devine Formula (1974)
The Devine formula is the most widely used equation in clinical settings for drug dosing.

Adjusting for Frame Size
Bone structure and muscle distribution vary significantly from person to person. A person with a large frame naturally weighs more than someone of the same height with a small frame. To account for this, the standard ideal weight calculated from the formulas above can be adjusted:
- Small Frame: Deduct 10% from the formula results.
- Medium Frame: Use the standard formula results.
- Large Frame: Add 10% to the formula results.
Healthy BMI Weight Range vs. Ideal Weight
