What Is a Minecraft End Portal Finder?

This calculator triangulates the nearest Minecraft stronghold End Portal using two Eye of Ender throws. Enter X and Z coordinates plus bearing for each throw to estimate portal location without mods.

How to Use Eye of Ender Triangulation

  1. Throw an Eye of Ender at your first location and record X, Z, and bearing clockwise from south.
  2. Travel a few hundred blocks at an angle and repeat the measurement.
  3. Enter both measurements here to get estimated portal coordinates.
  4. Repeat closer to the result for better accuracy.

Minecraft Bearing Reference

Minecraft bearings are measured clockwise from south: 0° is south, 90° is west, 180° is north, and 270° (or -90°) is east.

For general map triangulation, see the Triangulation Calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is this End Portal finder?

Accuracy depends on bearing precision. First attempts can be off by 50 to 100 blocks. Re-measure closer to the portal for better results.

Does this work on Bedrock and Java?

Yes. Both editions use the same coordinate system and Eye of Ender behavior for stronghold direction.

What if bearings are parallel?

Parallel bearings cannot intersect. Move to a new location and take another measurement at a different angle.

How do I craft Eyes of Ender?

Combine an ender pearl with blaze powder. Ender pearls come from endermen or villager trading, and blaze powder from blazes in Nether fortresses.

How do I know I found the portal?

When you are above the stronghold, thrown Eyes of Ender fall straight down instead of flying forward.
