ICC Cricket Rating Calculator

This ICC Calculator determines T20 ranking points gained by each team after a match based on pre-match ratings and the result. Enter both team ratings and select the winner or a tie to see how many points each side earns under ICC rules.

How ICC T20 Points Work

When the rating difference is under 40, the winner receives the opponent's rating plus 50, and the loser receives the opponent's rating minus 50. A tie awards each team the opponent's rating. When the difference exceeds 40, upsets and ties use larger adjustments to reward weaker teams that beat stronger opponents.

Example Calculation

If England (rating 248) beats Australia (rating 275), the rating gap is 27. England gains 325 points (275 + 50) and Australia gains 198 points (248 - 50). Margin of victory does not change the points awarded.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are ICC T20 rankings calculated?

Each match produces points based on both teams' pre-match ratings and the result. Total points over 12 months are divided by matches played to produce the published team rating.

Does winning margin affect ICC points?

No. ICC T20 match points depend only on the result (win, loss, or tie) and pre-match ratings, not runs or wickets margin.

What happens when a weaker team beats a stronger team?

When the rating difference is over 40, an upset gives the weaker winner +90 points based on their own rating, while the stronger loser loses 90 points from their own rating.

How many points for a tie?

If ratings are within 40 points, each team receives the opponent's rating. If the stronger team ties, they lose 40 from their own rating while the weaker team gains 40.

How do ICC rankings affect World Cup qualification?

Top-ranked teams on the cutoff date qualify directly for ICC events. Lower-ranked teams enter qualifying tournaments where every match point can shift standings significantly.
