Bread Spreads Calculator
Estimate how long a Nutella, peanut butter, or jam jar lasts and what you spend based on slices, teaspoons, and household size.
Track Spread Jars and Spending
Nutella, peanut butter, jam, and other spreads vanish faster than grocery runs. This calculator estimates jar life from slice count, teaspoons per slice, days per week, household size, and jar weight. It also projects monthly spend from jar price. For kitchen conversions, see the Cooking Converter.
How Jar Life Is Calculated
Each teaspoon is modeled as 5 cm³ of spread. Weekly usage equals people × slices × days per week × teaspoons × teaspoon weight. Jar life in days is jar capacity divided by daily usage.
Example
Three people eating two slices five days a week with two teaspoons of chocolate hazelnut spread from a 750 g jar lasts about two weeks at typical density.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why use density instead of volume?
Different spreads weigh different amounts per teaspoon. Density converts teaspoon volume into grams so jar capacity matches real usage.
Can I use a custom spread?
Yes. Choose custom and enter density in g/cm³, or divide the weight of one teaspoon by 5.
Does monthly cost include tax?
It extrapolates from the jar price you enter. Add tax or discounts yourself if needed.
What if everyone uses different amounts?
Enter average slices and teaspoons for the household, or split people into groups and run the tool twice.
