How Planetary Age Is Calculated

Your age on another planet depends on how long that planet takes to orbit the Sun. A year on Mars lasts about 687 Earth days, so you would be younger in Martian years than in Earth years.

Planetary Age Formula

$$\text{Age on Planet} = \frac{\text{Earth Age in Years}}{\text{Orbital Period in Earth Years}}$$

Orbital Periods in the Solar System

Mercury completes an orbit in about 0.24 Earth years, while Neptune takes about 165 Earth years. The farther a planet is from the Sun, the fewer birthdays you would celebrate there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why am I younger on Jupiter?

Jupiter takes about 12 Earth years to orbit the Sun, so one Jovian year is much longer than one Earth year.

Does this include Pluto?

Yes. Pluto is included as a dwarf planet with an orbital period of about 248 Earth years.

Can I enter age instead of birthday?

Yes. Switch to age mode and enter your current age on Earth in years.

What does next birthday mean?

It shows how much time remains until you complete another full orbital year on that planet, measured in Earth time.
