How to Calculate Your Age in Minutes

Minutes are the unit of daily life. The Age in Minutes Calculator converts your birth date into the total number of minutes you have been alive, a figure large enough to be impressive and small enough to feel real.

How the Calculation Works

The tool measures the time between your birth and the reference moment, then divides by the 60,000 milliseconds in a minute:

$$M = \left\lfloor \frac{t_{\text{ref}} - t_{\text{birth}}}{60{,}000} \right\rfloor$$

Because a day holds 1,440 minutes, the minute count grows quickly. It is not simply days times 1,440, since the reference date is taken at the very end of the day and every remaining minute is included.

Worked Example

Enter November 5, 1980 as the birth date and November 5, 2020 as the reference date. That is 40 complete years, or 14,610 days. Multiplying by 1,440 minutes per day gives 21,038,400 minutes, and the final day adds 1,439 more:

$$M = 14{,}610 \times 1{,}440 + 1{,}439 = 21{,}039{,}839 \text{ minutes}$$
