Sphere Density Calculator

Calculate sphere density from mass and radius, or solve for mass, radius, or volume of a spherical object.

Sphere Density

Density is mass divided by volume. For a sphere of radius \(r\):

$$V = \frac{4}{3}\pi r^3$$ $$\rho = \frac{m}{V}$$

This calculator solves for any one variable — density, mass, radius, or volume — when you know the other two (or mass and volume for the volume mode).

Frequently Asked Questions

What units does the calculator use?

Mass is in grams, radius in centimeters, and density in kg/m³. Volume can also be entered in cm³.

How do I find the radius from density and mass?

Select "Find radius", enter mass and density. The tool computes volume from \(V = m/\rho\), then \(r = \sqrt[3]{3V/(4\pi)}\).

Does this work for hollow spheres?

No. This tool assumes a solid homogeneous sphere. For shells, subtract the inner volume from the outer volume.
