Solar Farm Profit Calculator
Estimate daily and annual solar farm profit from capacity, capacity factor, electricity price, and operating costs.
Estimate solar farm revenue and operating profit
Solar project economics depend on how many kilowatt-hours you sell, the power purchase price, and recurring operations and maintenance. This calculator estimates daily and annual profit either from installed capacity and capacity factor or from a known daily generation figure.
Compare renewable economics with the Wind Turbine Profit Calculator and broader Profit Calculator.
Daily energy estimate
When you estimate from capacity, daily generation in kWh is: $$ E_{daily} = P_{MW} \times 1000 \times 24 \times CF $$ where $CF$ is the capacity factor expressed as a decimal (for example, 22% becomes 0.22). Daily profit equals revenue minus daily operating cost; annual profit multiplies the daily result by 365.
Frequently Asked Questions
What capacity factor should I use?
Utility-scale solar sites often land between 18% and 28% depending on irradiance, tracking, and curtailment. Use plant-specific production data when you have it.
Does this include debt service or tax credits?
No. The tool focuses on operating profit from energy sales minus daily O&M. Financing, ITC/PTC, and depreciation are out of scope.
