SOAPAction Header Builder
Generate SOAPAction and Content-Type headers for SOAP 1.1 and 1.2 HTTP requests from namespace and operation.
Build SOAPAction and Content-Type headers
HTTP SOAP clients must send the right media type and action hint. SOAP 1.1 uses
Content-Type: text/xml plus a SOAPAction header, traditionally a quoted URI
combining the service namespace and operation name. SOAP 1.2 embeds the action in
Content-Type: application/soap+xml using the action="..." parameter and does
not rely on a separate SOAPAction header.
Provide the WSDL target namespace, operation name, SOAP version, and charset to generate header lines and
a sample curl command. Combine with XML from the
SOAP Envelope Builder
before sending traffic to a test endpoint.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should SOAPAction include quotes?
Many .NET and Java stacks expect SOAP 1.1 SOAPAction values wrapped in double quotes.
This tool formats the header accordingly; adjust if your server documentation specifies a bare URI.
How is the action URI formed?
By default the action is {namespace}/{operation} with trailing slashes removed from the
namespace. Match your WSDL soapAction attribute when it differs.
Does this send HTTP requests?
No. It only composes header strings locally for copy/paste into your client.
