What Is Note Frequency?

Every musical note vibrates at a specific frequency measured in hertz (Hz). In equal temperament tuning, A4 is defined as 440 Hz and every other note is derived from that reference.

Here \(n\) is the number of semitones from A4. C4 is about 261.63 Hz and A4 is exactly 440 Hz.
