How Metric Conversion Works

To convert between two metric units, divide or multiply by powers of ten:

$$Value_{target} = Value_{source} \times \frac{Factor_{source}}{Factor_{target}}$$

For example, $1\ \text{km} = 1{,}000\ \text{m}$ and $1\ \text{m} = 100\ \text{cm}$.
