What a Salary Slip Format Is

A salary slip format is the monthly pay statement an employer gives an employee: earnings, deductions, and net pay. This page opens with a filled example and a blank slip. Net pay is gross earnings minus employee provident fund, professional tax, TDS, and any other deduction you enter. The net amount is also written in words.

The salary slip is built in your browser. Names, PAN, UAN, and amounts are not uploaded.

How to Fill the Salary Slip Format

  1. Start from the example or a blank slip.
  2. Enter the company, employee, designation, pay month, paid days, and loss-of-pay days.
  3. Enter basic pay, house rent allowance, special allowance, and any other earning.
  4. Set the employee PF rate (usually 12% of basic), professional tax, and TDS.
  5. Print the slip or download a PDF. Give the employee the copy your payroll process requires.

PF, Professional Tax, and TDS

Employee provident fund on this slip is the rate you type, applied to basic pay. The usual employee share is 12% of basic. The employer share is not deducted from net pay, so it is not listed as a deduction. Professional tax slabs depend on the state, so you type the rupee amount instead of picking a slab. TDS is the tax already deducted for that month.

Check the EPF contribution and the tax deduction against your payroll records before you hand the slip over. You can estimate an EPF balance with the EPF Calculator.

What This Slip Does Not Replace

It does not file ECR returns, generate Form 16, or satisfy a wage register by itself. It is a printable salary slip format for a single month. Banks and visa desks often accept a slip that shows the employer, the month, the gross pay, and the net pay. Confirm the exact columns they asked for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this salary slip format free to print?

Yes. Load the example or the blank slip, edit the amounts, then print or download a PDF. There is no account and no watermark.

How is net pay calculated?

Gross earnings are basic, HRA, special allowance, and other earnings. Deductions are employee PF, professional tax, TDS, and other deductions. Net pay is gross minus deductions, shown in rupees and in words.

Should employer PF appear on the slip?

Not in the deduction column. Employer PF is not taken from the employee's net pay. This format calculates only the employee share from the rate you enter.

Can I hide PAN or the bank account?

Yes. Leave PAN, UAN, or the last four account digits blank and they stay off the slip. If you type them, only what you typed is printed.

Where is the salary slip saved?

Only in this browser tab until you print or download it. Closing the tab clears the form.
