What the Business Card Maker Does

The Business Card Maker designs a professional card directly in your browser. Fill in your name, job title, company, phone, email, and website, choose an accent palette, and pick one of three layouts. The live preview redraws as you type, so you always see the finished card before exporting. When you are happy with it, download a print-ready PNG at standard business card proportions.

The card is rendered on an HTML canvas at 1050 by 600 pixels, which maps exactly to the standard 3.5 by 2 inch card at 300 DPI. Everything stays on your device, so your contact details are never uploaded anywhere.

How to Use the Business Card Maker

  1. Enter your name, job title, and company in the Card details panel.
  2. Add your phone, email, and website. Leave any field empty to omit it from the card.
  3. Pick a style: Modern, Classic, or Minimal.
  4. Adjust the background, text, and accent colors to match your brand.
  5. Press Download PNG and send the file to your print service.

Choosing a Style

  • Modern: a bold accent bar on the left edge with the name, title, and a hairline divider, plus contact details along the bottom. Suits agencies, studios, and tech companies.
  • Classic: centered serif typography inside a fine double border. Suits legal, finance, and consulting professionals.
  • Minimal: the name and a short accent underline at the top with contact details at the bottom and generous white space. Suits designers and anyone who prefers understatement.

Business Card Dimensions and Print Specs

The standard business card in the United States is 3.5 by 2 inches (89 by 51 mm), and this generator renders exactly that aspect ratio at 1050 by 600 pixels. At 300 DPI, that pixel size is the print industry minimum for sharp text and edges. If your printer asks for bleed to avoid white edges after trimming, scale the downloaded image slightly when placing it in the print template, or keep the design content away from the outer edge. The layouts here already leave a comfortable margin on all sides.

For paper, 300 to 400 GSM stock is standard. Matte finishes are easy to write on and look professional, while soft-touch lamination feels premium. Most online printers accept a high resolution PNG or JPG upload and handle conversion to CMYK on their side.

Color and Typography Tips

  • Keep one accent color. A single strong color plus black and white almost always looks better than a busy palette.
  • Check contrast between text and background. The preview updates instantly, so try light text on a dark background and compare.
  • Put the most important detail first: your name should be the largest element, followed by your role and company.
  • Keep contact details short. Long website URLs and multiple phone numbers crowd the card.
  • Add a QR code with the QR Code Generator if you want a scannable link to your portfolio or LinkedIn.

Privacy

Contact details are personal data, so the maker never sends them anywhere. Rendering and export both happen in your browser, and no account is required. When you close the tab, the details are gone unless you saved the PNG file.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is the downloaded business card?

The PNG is 1050 by 600 pixels, which is the standard 3.5 by 2 inch card at 300 DPI. That resolution is sufficient for professional printing.

Is the exported file ready for print?

Yes for most online printers. The design uses full bleed edges and a safe margin, so trimming variance will not cut into text. Printers convert to CMYK themselves, and colors may shift very slightly between screen and paper.

Can I remove a field from the card?

Yes. Clear any input and that line disappears from the canvas immediately. For example, clear the phone field for a card with only email and website.

How many colors can I customize?

Three: background, text, and accent. That covers the essentials of a clean card without overwhelming you with options. Type a hex code or use the color swatch to pick one visually.

What happens if my name is very long?

The renderer automatically reduces the font size until the text fits the card width, down to a readable minimum. Very long names still fit, but shorter display names look best.

Are my contact details uploaded anywhere?

No. The card is drawn and exported entirely in your browser with the Canvas API. Nothing is sent to a server, and no account or email is required.

Can I use the card for digital business cards?

Yes. The PNG works in email signatures, LinkedIn profiles, and messaging apps. Use the Image Resizer to produce smaller sizes for places with tighter file limits.
