Write a quiz and score it on the same page

Quiz Builder keeps a set of multiple-choice questions in this browser. Each question has a prompt, four choices, and one correct choice. Take mode shows the questions as answer lists and updates the score as soon as a choice is selected. Edit mode changes the prompts, the choices, and which choice is correct. The quiz is saved in local storage on this device so a refresh keeps your questions. It is not sent to a server.

How scoring works

A question counts as answered only after a choice is selected. It counts as correct only when that choice is the one marked correct in edit mode. Unanswered questions stay out of the correct total. If you change the correct choice after someone has already answered, the score updates immediately against the new key. Reset restores the two sample questions and clears every answer.

The last remaining question cannot be deleted, so the score always has a denominator. Add question appends a blank item with four empty choices. Fill those in before you switch back to take mode, or the answer list will show numbered placeholders.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the quizzes stored online?

No. Questions are written to this browser's local storage under a single key. Another device, another browser, or a cleared site storage will not see them.

Can a question have more than four choices?

No. Every question has four choices and one correct index. If you need fewer real options, leave a choice blank and avoid marking it correct.

What happens if I remove a question I already answered?

That answer is dropped and the score is recalculated from the questions that remain. You cannot remove the final question.

Does a wrong answer lower the score below zero?

No. Wrong answers add to the answered count and do not add to the correct count. There is no negative marking.

Can students share a quiz from this page?

The questions stay on the device that created them. To reuse a quiz elsewhere, keep a copy of the prompts and answer key. This page does not publish a public link.
