What is a Cubic Meter?

A cubic meter (m³) is the SI unit of volume, defined as the volume of a cube with sides of one meter each. It is the standard unit for measuring volume in scientific, engineering, and many commercial applications worldwide. One cubic meter equals 1,000 liters or approximately 35.3 cubic feet.

How to Calculate Cubic Meters

To calculate cubic meters from dimensions, measure the length, width, and height in meters and multiply them together. If your measurements are in other units, convert each to meters first:

• 1 cm = 0.01 m
• 1 mm = 0.001 m
• 1 ft = 0.3048 m
• 1 in = 0.0254 m

The formula remains the same regardless of which units you start with:
