Snow Volume Formula
For a sphere with diameter \(d\) in centimeters, volume in liters is:
$$V = \frac{\pi}{6} d^3 \times 0.001$$Available snow in liters equals yard area in square meters times depth in centimeters times 10.
Build Quality Score
Moist snow near the freezing point packs best. The tool combines snow type and air temperature into a build probability score so you can tell whether conditions favor a sturdy snowman or a collapsing pile.

Those numbers come from the Fibonacci sequence and approximate the golden ratio. They produce a balanced snowman shape that looks natural and is stable when stacked.
What snow type works best?
Moist snow with about 3% water content packs like wet sand. Dry powder looks pretty but often will not hold a ball together without extra moisture.
How deep should snow be in my yard?

Does temperature really matter?
Yes. Snow near 0°C is easiest to roll. Very cold dry snow and warm slush both lower the build quality score because packing behavior changes.
