Scrypt Hash Generator

Generate scrypt password hashes with custom cost parameters using WebAssembly in your browser.

O M T

Generate scrypt password hashes locally

Scrypt is a memory-hard password hashing function used in many wallets, backup tools, and legacy systems. Tune cost factor (N), block size (r), parallelism (p), and output length, then copy hex or base64 digests. For modern apps, also compare with Argon2 Hash Generator.

Parameter guide

  • N (cost factor): Work factor; higher values resist brute force but use more CPU and RAM.
  • r (block size): Increases memory usage per iteration.
  • p (parallelism): Number of independent mixing lanes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is scrypt still recommended for new passwords?

Argon2id is generally preferred today, but scrypt remains common in existing systems and cryptocurrency wallets.

Why is hashing slow?

Scrypt is designed to be expensive. Large N values may take several seconds in the browser.

Does this output modular crypt format?

This tool outputs raw hex or base64 digests. Use your application library to wrap salts in a full MCF string if needed.

Are passwords sent to a server?

No. Hashing uses WebAssembly in your browser only.
